My Journey of holistic Healing and Education

Hello and welcome to our blog! I’m Dr. Hannah Keri, an Australian chiropractor with a comprehensive background in both adult and paediatric care. My journey into holistic health has been deeply personal and transformative, beginning with my diagnosis of antisynthetase syndrome in 2021. This diagnosis sparked a profound shift in how I approach health and wellness, leading me to explore the powerful connection between diet, stress management, and holistic healing.

In this community, will serve as a resource for your health journey, focusing on pregnancy care and child development, stress relief and healthy recipes to the benefits of the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet and chiropractic care, our goal is to empower you with knowledge and tools to nurture you and your families body and minds effectively.

My Journey with Antisynthetase Syndrome

In 2021, my life was upended by a diagnosis of antisynthetase syndrome, an autoimmune condition that affects the muscles and joints. This diagnosis was a scary and left me with a lot on anxiety about my health which I had previously taken for granted. This diagnosis was more than just a medical challenge; it became my drive for deepening my understanding of how the body heals and how lifestyle factors play a crucial role in managing chronic conditions.

What is Antisynthetase Syndrome?

Antisynthetase syndrome is characterized by the presence of autoantibodies that target specific enzymes involved in muscle function. This autoimmune response leads to inflammation, muscle weakness, joint pain, and, in some cases, skin rashes. The condition falls under a broader category of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies, which are complex and often require a multifaceted approach to treatment.

My Path to Healing

Faced with this challenge and my past education, I chose to explore a holistic approach to healing. I turned to diet and stress management as central components of my strategy. This led me to adopt the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet, which has since become a cornerstone of my personal and professional practice.

A key aspect of the AIP diet is its focus on gut health. Research has increasingly shown that the gut plays a critical role in immune function and inflammation. Disruptions in gut health, such as a compromised gut lining or imbalanced microbiome, can contribute to systemic inflammation and exacerbate autoimmune conditions. By supporting gut health through the AIP diet, we aim to heal the gut lining and restore balance to the immune system.

Our blog is dedicated to providing you with valuable information and practical tools to support your journey toward better health. Here’s what you can expect from my future blog posts:

You might be wondering, why bother with adjustments?

The answer lies in our central nervous system, comprised of the brain 🧠 and spinal cord. This system plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between our brain and spinal cord. Messages travel from the body up the spinal cord to the brain, where they’re processed and responded to, then relayed back down the spinal cord to instruct the body accordingly.

Picture each spinal joint as a doorway 🚪; when there’s restriction or dysfunction in a particular area, it’s like shutting that door. This can significantly impact how efficiently our central nervous system functions, affecting communication between the brain and the body. These restrictions and dysfunctions can stem from various causes, predominantly poor posture and movement patterns over a long period of time or injury.

This is where adjustments come into play. By addressing areas of dysfunction, we restore natural movement, reopening those metaphorical doors and enhancing communication between the brain and body.
